You should hear from Beverly when something needs you and not otherwise. A notification says who it is about, what happened, and gives you one thing to do about it.

What Beverly tells you about
Event	How it reaches you
Something needs your approval	A notification on your phone, and an email if that did not land. Deliberately never a text: an approval you cannot act on from the notification is just noise.
A lead is waiting on a human	Notification, then text, then email.
A lead has gone quiet for longer than you set	Notification, then text, then email.
A date on a file is about to slip	The same ladder, while there is still time to do something.
A review that takes a while has finished	A notification on your phone, so you can start an inspection report reading and put the phone down. Nothing else, because the answer is already saved and waiting on the tool when you come back.

You choose how much you want: everything, only the things that matter, or nothing.
You set how long a lead can sit untouched before Beverly nudges you about it.
Turning on notifications in the app means we can stop texting you the same thing. That is where this is heading.
