Instagram and Messenger

A direct message on Instagram or your Facebook page becomes a lead with a name, and Beverly writes the reply. Built, and not switched on for anybody outside our team.

In testingBuilt, and running in our own testing environment. It is switched off for customer accounts, so you cannot use it yet. This runs in our own testing environment on our own accounts. You cannot connect your Instagram or your Facebook page today: the button that would do it is not on your settings screen, and connecting other people's pages needs a review from Meta that we have not completed. Nothing here is available on a customer account.

A lot of real estate conversation starts as a direct message, and a message sitting unread for a day is the same lost lead as a missed call. So the plan is that a message to your page or your Instagram lands in Beverly beside your texts and your email, and gets answered the same way everything else does, with you on the words.

  1. Somebody messages you. A direct message to your Instagram or your Facebook page. Beverly reads the words, not a notification about them.
  2. They become a real lead. Named from their own profile rather than left as a handle, and placed on the right kind of conversation from what they actually asked. Beverly does not invent a phone number for them, so no texting sequence starts.
  3. Beverly writes the reply. Out of the same instructions and the same trained material that a text reply comes from, so the answer is not a different, worse Beverly because the message arrived somewhere else.
  4. You approve it. The reply waits for you. If you have handed that one person to Beverly to run on their own, it goes without you, which is the same rule as every other channel.
What works and what does not
ThingWhere it stands
Connecting your pageBuilt, and not on your settings screen. Needs a review from Meta before anybody outside our team can connect their own.
Turning a message into a named leadBuilt and working in our testing, for Instagram and for Messenger.
Beverly's reply, waiting for your approvalBuilt and working in our testing. The places it shows up for you to approve are not finished, which is part of why this is not switched on.
Pictures, attachments, story replies and reactionsNot read at all. Text only.
Sending a picture backNo.
Disconnecting a page once it is connectedNot built. There is no screen for it yet.
WhatsAppNot built. No part of it exists.
Meta only lets you reply for a dayMeta closes the door on a conversation twenty four hours after somebody's last message, and there is no way to reopen it. Beverly stops rather than trying: past the window you are told the window closed, instead of a message that silently never arrives. That limit is not ours and we cannot widen it.
A handle is not a phone numberSomebody who messaged you has given you no way to text them, and Beverly treats it that way rather than guessing. If they type a number or an email into the conversation themselves, that gets saved with a note of when they gave it and where, because that is the difference between a number you may use and one you may not.
